Once your trip is over

What to do once you have returned home with a shipload of photographs? Here are a couple of suggestions to close off with:

Support a good cause

If you managed to take stunning or unique photographs, consider donating a copy of your images to a nature conservation organisation that relates to your photographs. These organisations are always looking for good photographs to be used for their campaigns, which saves them money they can spend on other needs. Search the internet which organistions you would want to donate photographs to, and how you can get in touch with them.

Here are just a few examples of nature conservation organisations that are always looking for photographs (links open in a new windows):

Print your own photo book

Many printing labs (including big stores) also offer the possibility to print your photographs in a personal photo book. To create and design your own book, you will need a program that you can download from their website. After the installation of the software on your computer you can determine the number of pages, their size and basic layout. You can change the layout of individual pages, resize your photos or crop them, and write headers and other descriptions. When you are satisfied with your design, you send in your file which will be printed and sewn into a real book. It is possible to order more than one copy, for family and friends, for example.

Publish your photos online

There are thousands of websites that offer you to publish you photographs on the web. Before you do so, decide on what you want: Search for a photo album website that you like, ask other photographers for their experience and opinion too.

Lecture

Using (a selection of) your holiday photographs you may want to organise a lecture. Pick out a favourite topic and study it to have some background information. Add maps, charts, illustrations and other material that can help explaining your story.
