Last Friday the Dutch band IOS (right) threw a party at the Heineken Music Hall (Amsterdam) at the occasion of their 10th anniversary, with guest performances of the dutch rap duo 'Lange Frans & Baas B' and singer Thé Lau. For all fans: 14 new photographs ...

And Dutch ballad/country-rock singer Stevie Ann (left) brought her band to open up the evening playing the support act which, in my opinion, should have lasted longer than half an hour!

Some photographs contain (decent) semi-nudity.

Meet LEXsample
For those of you living in the Netherlands: you can meet LEXsample at the SOVON birding day, and at the 'Noord-Hollandse Natuurdag'. Details can be found on the (Dutch) page beurzen & stands. See you there?

The exhibition Surprising nature (in Dutch) has been renewed, including new photographs, and is on display starting 28th November at Staatsbosbeheer's visitor's center Het Zandspoor in Schoorl.

The local theatre in the Frisian village of Kollum had sold out for the first night of Piter Wilkens' new show, It fûgeltsje yn myn gitaar ('Little bird inside my guitar') These little birds are the songs of the Dutch troubadour Cornelis Vreeswijk, translated from Dutch and Swedish into Frisian by Piter.

An Evening of Love Songs
A series of photographs I took at the Evening of Love Songs was presented previously on this website, but a new series of my photographs can be viewed on Revisor's website (the organisation of the evening - opens in new window).

Once again I went back to Paradiso, this time to attend Luka Bloom's concert. 10 new photographs of the Irish singer/guitarist.

On the 2nd of October the Amsterdam Paradiso formed the stage of a 'cultural cross-fertilization': thirteen singers who sung poems of thirteen poets. I added 14 new photographs to give you an impression of this evening, with well-known Dutch faces of Spinvis, Huub van der Lubbe, Wende Snijders and Laïs (left).

The last song of this evening was one by An Pierlé & Koen Gisen, who sang together with a children's choir. 11 photographs of this one-time performance can be viewed by clicking on the picture on the right.

Cristina Branco & Ana Salazar are touring in the Netherlands with a unique show bringing the best of Portugese and Spanish tradition. For all fans of Cristina and Ana, I am presenting two new series (each of 11 photographs), one from the show in Vredenburg theatre (Utrecht), the other from the Philarmonie theatre (Haarlem).

Exhibition in De Waaghals

Lecture'Albatrossen and other seabirds of the Southern Ocean'
Friday 13 October I will deliver a lecture for the birders of the village of Ouderkerk a/d Amstel. The lecture is in Dutch and you are welcome to join. More information on the Lectures page.

A couple of new photographs from Frisian singer Nynke Laverman live at her new show called the Maisfrou (Music Hall at the IJ river, 14 May 2006) have been added to her website's gallery, www.nynkelaverman.nl. From the menu, select foto's and then Maisfrou.

On this dutch Bird Fair, you could find LEXsample in the tent of BirdLife International to draw attention to the albatrosses. A photo exhibition showed how graceful these birds really are. Many visitors got informed and also supported BirdLife's campaign financially. A total of € 200 was collected, money which will be transferred to BirdLife's campaign in the coming days.

Background information on the conservation of albatrosses

I've added a general page on the Save The Albatross campaign. It takes only ten minutes of reading to get informed of the problem and the solutions.

The neighbourhood of an old tram garage served as background for a new series of 15 portrait photographs.

Mayor adaptions have been made to the online photo catalogue in order to better present the large format prints that can be ordered, framed or on canvas. The number of photographs has been extended too showing new photographs that I took at the beginning of this year. Click here to view the new photo catalogue.

Other updates to the catalogue include:

• new :: from now on, prints are also available on canvas;
• all photographs have been categorized per theme;
• pictures have been enlarged for clearer on-screen display;
• both frames and canvas have been described in a clearer way.

The Parade is a sort of circus of theatre and music shows where one can go to get a taste of new and established talents. This year too, the Parade visited Amsterdam. I went there to see two artists, from each one of them I am presenting here a series of photographs.

Today I am presenting the first series of photographs (exactly 100 as it turns out) from the sailing trip that me and my girlfriend undertook at the beginning of the year. Back to our favorite destination, the Antarctic peninsula.

You'll find more albatrosses, penguins, landscapes, whales and dolphins. The second (and last) series is scheduled to be published in September.

A hot sun did not deter music lovers to come to listen to Bettie Serveert. The band played for about 45 minutes, both own songs as well as covers. A small impression (9 photographs).

The Leiden Theatre formed the background for recordings, last Friday, of Cristina Branco singing fados of Amalia Rodriguez; these recordings will be used for an upcoming DVD. 11 photographs from this concert have been added to my website.

Today LEXsample presents a new poster. Sales revenues will be donated to the albatross campaign of BirdLife International.

More about the albatross: BirdLife International has printed some LEXsample photographs in their latest issue of World Birdwatch. There's an albatross on the front cover and three more pictures to illustrate the article on the Volvo Ocean Race inside the magazine.

Dutch singer Stevie Ann performed last Sunday in the capital's Vondel-park. 11 photographs of this short gig can be viewed on this new page.

For hours and hours, day in day out, this juvenile woodpecker has been begging for food. Finally this morning, for the first time, no more woodpecker calls were heard. Has the young fledged at last?

Last Sunday the band played in the city of Rotterdam, this was the last Dutch gig scheduled for now. Nighttown had not sold out - a missed opportunity for every music addict who was not present!

Charlie Dee and her musicians performed between singers Marike Jager (see below) and Ellen ten Damme, on that lazy sunny afternoon in the Vondel park. Photographs that depict what summer feels like.

Marike Jager and her two musicians were the first act to open last Sunday's open air concert series in the Amsterdam Vondelpark.

Accompanied by singing thrushes and her own musicians, Cristina Branco sang old and new material in the open air theatre of the town of Bloemendaal (Netherlands).

Her new show titled De Maisfrou ("the corn woman") has been running for some time now, but on May 14th Frisian singer Nynke and her musicians presented their new album to the public in the Amsterdam "Muziekgebouw Aan 't IJ". 12 photographs of a colourful show.

Pierlé once more?! Well, yes - it was again a different gig this time, with different light, a different atmosphere... So I'm presenting 8 more new photographs of the band's third Dutch concert.

12 photographs of the gig the band played in Brussels on May 5th at the occasion of the new release of the third album CD, simply titled An Pierlé & White Velvet.

These two English musicians really demonstrated to have a lot of energy - they sure sounded like a four man's band. Their permormance at the Melkweg venue, last Tuesday (25th), resulted in the following set of photographs!

Overview of the inhabitants of Geijsel's grassland, or more accurate: Geijsel's wetland (South of Amsterdam), where on Saterday 25 March 2006 I spent one day taking photographs of them.

Righty Ho! There's a new face on my website in the People section: a series of spontaneous portraits that I took earlier this month of a girl who is crazy about boats and sailing... Enjoy!
